My grandmother (who died before I was born) left so many projects behind my mother is working on them to this day. I only recently learned about this stash of thread (it’s all organized by number!) and idk what to do with it

I also got a box of thread because the store was out of the individual color I needed, but was available in a 20 pack. I was organizing it all when I saw this- my grandma probably ran out of thread, and here I am refilling it years later idk made me cry.

I have made so many silly observations, and I’ll drop any new ones in the reblogs later

Observation one: pick your poison

While browsing the image, I noticed the smut corner quickly and soon found the angst corner. After I found the fluff/romance corner I quickly identified the three main tags and their groupings.

From top left to bottom right, we have a screenshot that has deadnaming, doomed timline, and conversion therapy very close together. (This is the angst area) second screenshot has George Washington is a dad. I just cracked up laughing when I saw that. Third has psi corps sitting next to the psi corps tag is mine. I don’t know what fandom that’s from but it’s so silly! Last one has winterhawk-Freeform(Bucky/clint) in between the anxiety, depression, and panic attacks tags. I’ve read a bit of winterhawk, and this is very on brand. Anyways imma keep looking at this!

Someone please explain the difference between lacquer and enamel in the context of minis - I’m going to look it up but any extra clarification would be great

:edit: looked it up, most articles/ videos were talking about it in the context of paints, while I’m wondering about the protective coat I wanna spray on my minis- apparently enamel takes longer to dry/cure while lacquer is faster

I got the lacquer at a small store that sold minis, but they closed and I grabbed the enamel from a bigbox craft store

Info dump about my month (tw for hospital mention and description of hospital equipment)

Three things happened to me.

1: i spent 5 days leading seven other people on a 50 mile backpacking trek

2: my grandfather is in the hospital

3: i finished reading omniscient readers viewpoint

A few years ago i read the ORV webtoon. It hadn’t updated that far, so i eventually finished it. A few weeks ago, i started reading the fan translation of the webnovel. I read up until the demon realm scenario before taking a pause on reading.

Because i was now in the wilderness leading a crew of backpackers and i needed to conserve my phone battery. We experienced many hardships (leeches in our drinking water…)(crashing out at eachother)(at least two panic attacks)(5/8 members visiting medical when we got back to civilization…)(i have three pinched nerves still)

It was not easy. It was very hard and painful.

But all i could think when i got back home, to my air conditioning, pets, clean water, and food that was actually food,

was

“I want to go back.”

I had a horrible anxiety attack that lasted three days. There was no longer anything pushing me forward. I didn’t have to make it to the next campsite. I didn’t have manage the relationships of my crew.

It was horrible. I still don’t understand why a lack of stress does that to me.

I did have one place where the anxiety couldn’t get to me. I picked ORV up again

And continued reading.

I intentionally spoiled some things for myself in order to hold my interest.

Kim dokja (the main character) has a better time surviving the apocalypse than our world.

His sole reason for living in our world was a story. A story he had been reading for ten years.

It was a miserable story about a character failing again and again. And yet, it was his reason.

I cant help but draw parallels.

Between our lives.

I vividly remember, at certain points in my life, while struggling with depression, having thought “i wish i was dead” or “i wish i didn’t exist” and immediately following it up with “but i want to know how one piece ends”

Four days after i arrived home from my trek, i left again.

My grandfather was (and still is at the time of writing this) in the hospital. He will probably be fine but my family drove out to support him anyways. When we arrived at the hospital i started to get sick.

Whenever a character gets injured and is in a hospital, the visitors always express some degree of horror or hatred for the environment. I never understood that until i entered the ICU for the first time and saw my grandfather. His body was no longer limited to flesh and blood. His body, keeping him alive, now consisted of metal boxes and plastic tubing. The dialysis machine was big and i could see things turning in it. There was a tube that was pink, not by design, but because of its contents. I could see what was essentially a human made organ, moving.

Throughout this, i have been reading ORV. Today (day of completion) i spent four and a half hours reading it. This week, i spent 34 hours reading ORV. It took me 49 hours over the course of three weeks (not counting week in wilderness) of reading to finish it. It sparked so many thoughts and inner debates i cant talk about here.

Despite that. From an outside perspective. Its not very…

Good?

Pacing? You mean running full sprint non stop? No downtime. Just up and up and up.

Impossible to predict plot? Maybe if i read more Korean webnovels and had a better understanding of their tropes i could. But i dont so i was flying blind.

Things lost in translation? Yeeuuuppp. I was reading the fan translation of a work around 1.2 million words long. Of course theres clunky translations and typos sprinkled about!

Plots seem to jump all over the place. I was thinking, surely, this is the end, at 80% completion. I still had 240,000 words left. Anyways if you were texting me and i wasn’t responding thats why
