now here's some stuff i would have enjoyed in middle school (non-pejorative!). just as the name "foxpockets" implies, it's super whimsical, lots of fairy-tale subject matter. despite the morbidity of some of the lyrics (on this song and on "voytek" especially. woyzeck jumpscare once again!) the world that comes to my mind when describing the sound is "twee." very warm, very sweet, accordion and banjo are always going to be a favorite combination of mine, little harp and glockenspiel hits break up the moments where it starts to drift into moodiness. the layered vocals and harmonies in some spots are very nice. the only thing that gives me a bit of pause are when the main singer is left to sing by themself. they have a pretty voice, but because i'm a freak that loves when things suck those parts didn't engage me as much, although the contrast between the sweet vocals and the lyrics on "voytek" works really well. almost reminds me of some of my favorite moments on "tasseomancy" by ghost bees, especially because of the subject matter.
god. i feel like i sound like my dad right now
