Another @foxquinweek, another set of fun fics!

I managed seven fics this year, although not particularly aligned to each day. Instead, my first thought whenever I was stuck for ideas was 'how do they go about killing Palpatine this time?' XD

Fox Paws (AO3) | ficlet: 290w | prompt: clothes swap When his own clothes are ruined, Fox doesn't think twice about borrowing Quinlan's - he does it all the time with his brothers. Except Quinlan Vos is not a clone.

Multifaceted (AO3) | ficlet: 145w | prompt: “Why do you love me?” Fox should find Quinlan annoying, and sometimes he does. But he is worth it anyway.

Once More for Emphasis (AO3) | ficlet: 210w | prompts: "This is my only day off in weeks and you want me to help you commit a crime?", Fox kills the Chancellor “I didn’t say we should kill him.” “No, you really did. Now let’s go.”

Daily Grind (AO3) | double drabble | prompts: time travel, Fox is haunted Fox is having a good day, and doesn't want it to end. Quinlan is having a bad day, and would rather like Fox's help to make it stop. The impasse can only last so long.

Technicalities (AO3) | ficlet: 315w | prompts: “Unfortunately, General, I would need to be a sentient being for that.”, Fox kills the Chancellor Mace Windu glares at the two men standing before him, trying to decide which is more insolent: the Clone Commander’s textbook-perfect ‘at attention’ or the Jedi Master’s casual lounging against thin air. “Care to explain what I am supposed to do with the fact that the two of you just murdered the kriffing Supreme Chancellor?”

Reciprocal Trust (AO3) | ficlet: 200w | prompts: The power of false names and real names Quinlan has been a Shadow long enough for the mindset - the manipulations - to become reflexive; but he refuses to use those skills on his friends in the Coruscant Guard. He values their trust more than their secrets.

Traitor (AO3) | ficlet: 330w | prompts: “how are you still alive, "I don't want to be like this forever" For a long, frozen minute, CC-1010 and Vos lock gazes. The Commander and the Jedi, the Commander and the Traitor. Why isn't Vos running? Why isn't Fox shooting?

By day, he is known as Marshall Commander Fox, brave leader of the Coruscant Guard. But at night, he is...the CRIMSON VIXEN!!! Or: By night, the Crimson Vixen and Shadowblade, his partner in crime fighting, prowl the streets of Coruscant to make them at least a little safer. During the day, however, Marshall Commander Fox of the Coruscant Guard is less than enthused about having to accept Jedi Shadow Quinlan Vos as his new buddy.

Traitor

For a long, frozen minute, CC-1010 and Vos lock gazes. The Commander and the Jedi. The Commander and the Traitor.

Vos should know better. He must realise that every second he spends here, he is that much closer to more of the Guard catching up. That much closer to being dealt with as the traitor he is. CC-1010 isn’t sure how he managed to corner him, they worked together often enough to know just how wily the Shadow can be.

Perhaps it has something to do with the way he looks – not older, it has been a bare few months since they last shared a case, mere weeks before everything changed – but tired. Worn down in a way that not even three years of war and gruelling undercover missions could achieve. The Commander knows well how grief can make one careless, and that everyone has a breaking point.

Movement, and a small face peers around Vos’ back, reshaping the answer even as it forms.

Oh. Of course. It shouldn’t make a difference, their orders were clear: the Jedi are traitors and are to be executed on sight. No allowance was made for age. Vos pushes the child back behind him, and he can’t help but fixate on the protective curl of his hand.

He should raise his blaster, he should shoot. Instead he just watches. Good Soldiers Follow Orders, but Fox is so sick of orders.

Quinlan starts backing towards an alley, and without ever consciously deciding to, Fox lets him go.

Even so, the delay costs him.

Commander Thire – CC-4477 now – arrives. Too late to take aim at the fleeing Jedi and his charge, but not too late to see Fox step to block the line of fire, buying the fugitives a few extra precious seconds.

CC-4477 is a Good Soldier, and takes the appropriate steps to secure the traitor before him. Fox accepts that he will face the consequences of being a good man instead.
