another mouse drawing, i actually tried to pick up my tablet today and all the rubber on it had deteriorated into sticky goop and I did Not have the spoons to deal with that

my friend's starting a Half Life RP and I wanted to stick my favorite guy in there, so here's Charlie, a former aperture test subject who escaped only to get instantly captured and experimented on by the combine. horrors only fitting for my favorite guy.

me rambling abt the process below

i used a deer as a reference for the walk cycle. it definitely could be better but i think it turned out pretty okay. i would've liked to micromanage the interpolation so there isn't easing in the middle of what is supposed to be one pose-to-pose motion, but i'm trying to keep the timeline neat and keyframes grouped together, as blockbench can be a little weird about it otherwise.

it's nice to animate in 3d after animating in 2d for so long. maintaining the size and perspective of different parts over the course of the animation was always a massive struggle for me, and it's a bit of a relief to get to focus on other things. though i will say animating fluid things like the tail are much more difficult--you cant make tiny changes in the placement of anything without having to adjust the entire rest of the rig, so the further down from the base part you are the harder it is to control where things end up. unless i guess you use inverse kinematics, but i'm too lazy to learn it rn and i don't think blockbench supports that lmao
