For all you suckers who couldn't make it to my FPIA prelim night this past Sunday night. DON'T WORRY!!! I uploaded my set to the interwebz. I'm quite proud of it. It's nice to know that I'm somewhat growing as a comic. Key word is somewhat. Tell me what you guys think of it. Thanks! You guys are cool. Cool cool cool.
My Finale and New Beginning at FPIA 2014
Last night felt like one of those benchmark moments of my life. I know that might seem silly saying that about a comedy contest, but to me it felt a little bit more than that. Maybe that's why I was nervous for the beginning of my set last night. The reason behind that is I felt like last night was the first true test of the path that I decide to take back in 2012 at the LOL Comedy Club's open-mic night in San Antonio. The moment I decided to stop being just a fan of comedy and take part of it myself. I wasn't happy which the way my life was heading at the time. I worked a part-time job as my full-time job, I wasn't going to go school, I was still living at home, all my friends were moving on and I was just stuck at this one moment in time, and I had a bad falling out with one of my best friends. I wasn't suicidal, but I wasn't happy with my life or myself. One of the few bright spot of that moment in time was all the podcast/comedy albums I listened to and all the sitcoms/comedy specials I watched. Again, I know that seems silly saying that, but to me they were giving me the motivation to purse my dream. Heck, when I heard Pete Holmes and Marc Maron say, "If you want to be a stand-up comedian then go out to open-mic and try to become one.", that when I went up on the stage for the very first time at LOL. A little over a year later, I'm living in the city of my dream, pursuing this silly little dream with the greatest support group a guy can ask for. Thank you guys for coming out and supporting me on what was one of the biggest night of my life. I know I still have a long road ahead of me, but after seeing the support of all my love ones and colleagues in the same room and over the interwebs. I know I'm heading down the right path and it's worth the bumps in the road.
To sum it up, last night felt like a season finale of my life. I can't wait to see what the next season has to offer.
