[Login] Notice for Tumblr users
Hello everyone! We just became aware of an issue with logging in with Tumblr accounts to FRTools that might become a bit of an actual issue, knowing how Tumblr works. In this post we’ll try to explain what is happening and what we & you can do about it at this moment.
If you’ve made your account using the Tumblr login feature it’s fine and dandy, as long as you don’t change your name. Turns out, the Tumblr API only provides us with your username on site, meaning that if you change your blog name, you will not be able to log back in to your old account as the only thing it is tied to is your blog name. Thanks Tumblr, very cool.
This isue only affects Tumblr accounts and only when you log out, as you’re not able to log back in. Accounts that are logged in will be fine as long as you stay that way. We’re writing this since we know people change usernames quite a lot on this site, and it’s bound to happen at some point. Currently we’re thinking of ways to mitigate this issue and we will make updates as things are happening. Stay tuned! What can you do for the time being?
If you have not changed your name: It’s fine as long as you don’t change your blog name. The account is tied to it. If you did change your name at some point: Reverting back to your old username will do the trick, but that means that you will have to keep it until we figure out a solution to this.
