Sneep Snoop:
There was a bedtime story his ma had told him, growing up, about how being in love would open up a whole new world of color. You never saw red and blues in the same light again, how the world would create a sparkling hue that no soul knew to exist until you saw it. “That’s how, my baby boy,” she’d tell him while tucking the covers around his side. “That’s how you know you’ll be in love. When the color in the world starts to fade and that anxiety worry of what’s happening to you takes over until you wake up one day and see a whole new world of color. That’s what I want for you.”
But for Bucky, it wasn’t like that. For him, he saw the world not in new shades of blues and greens, but of a golden hue. He saw the world through Clint Barton’s baby blue eyes and he’d never want to forget a thing. He’d never want to forget how the world seemed so much happier with that blonde in it.
He knew the second that Kate had called, something was wrong. His heart dropped straight to his stomach when he saw her name flashing across his screen. He tried not to think of Clint and how the guy hadn’t been answering his phone all day or how he seemed a little on edge on their last phone call. He almost abandoned everything right then and there and ran back, if it wasn’t for his sisters needing help.
When his gut told him something was wrong, something was always wrong. Even if just this once, he prayed he could be mistaken.
“Bucky?” Kate’s breath was shaky, only just able to hear her over the sounds of sirens. “Th-thank God you answered. I didn’t know…” She stopped herself and he could hear the coughing gag one does when they’re starting to hyperventilate.
Oh no.
