ik your archaeology au is more scarian focused (which i am VERY looking forward to :D dont get me wrong on that), but considering that apparently almost all of the seasons are combined, i am internally wheezing at whatever the fuck must have happened between impulse and bdubs considering they would be happily maried, bitter enemies, responsible for murdering each other, or all of the above

(btw does cleo count as a winner in this au for remembering? fun dynamic between her and scott and pearl if that is the case)

This is such a good point! Honestly, relationships in this au must be a mess all around, because you've got present intertwining with past, past contradicting with the present, friendships and grudges that last millenia and romances that go through space and time (in case of scarian). And only 7 people are somewhat aware of this. And nobody wants to talk about it, too, because what the actual hell is this and how do you even approach that

In case of Impulse and Bdubs, they're blissfully unaware. They're drinking their morning coffee while sharing banter, not a thousand yard stare lol

But Cleo, Scott, Pearl and Martyn are all winners, so they kinda know something's not right, something's up between the four of them. That's a fun idea to play with :)

(And yes, I do count Cleo as a winner!)

Because I'm spinning the 'Wroyam' au in my mind, I was rereading your idea for the AU and the part where you said 'They leave together with half of the group two weeks later, causing several surprised gasps (and a cheerful whistle from Mumbo) when kissing on the site one last time, as a goodbye to it and whatever happened there.' I can't help but imagine that it was Grian that initiated it , sort of as a way that he's come to accept that he and Scar are soulmates in this 'time period'. Like imagine Scar waving 'goodbye' to Cleo and the gang when he suddenly feels a hand wrap firmly around his wrist and before he even has the chance to see who it is, he gets yanks around and into a kiss, right in front of their friends, Scar blinks in surprise as Grian pulls away with a smirk. I dunno, sorry for rambling on-

You're so right, I was envisioning that kiss being initiated by Grian! Something about all of them going to see the dig one last time before leaving, Grian getting overwhelmed with thoughts and emotions about it again, finding Scar's hand for comfort and kissing him in spite of the mess inside his head, feeling like it's something that needs to happen here. Something Scar feels important to happen here. Who's Grian to deny him that?

Sort of caving in the "I choose to believe I chose this" mentality, but really just sweeping the worries under the carpet. They still have a lot to talk about, but Rome wasn't built in a day!

question because your "what remains" au is super cool! The little wings on past Grian's hood, does that mean he is sort of a shaman/šamán ? Or was he one of the "clan leaders"? Either way, I'm interested in hearing any more thoughts you have! :) hope you have a good day!

Hi! I haven't thought of that in such details, because it would mean I'd need to construct a semi-fantasy culture of uncertain time period (well, okay, it's probably somewhere in the early/mid bronze age (?)) with uncertain geographical placement, make up lots of lore stuff,,, and I'm just afraid of getting carried too far away for now :'D

+ one of the most crucial aspects of this au, to me, is the overall uncertainty; a kind of intrigue that is impossible to resolve fully. Because what's gone is gone, and whatever was happening in their past lives is a different story, one that doesn't belong to our time. So I'm not sure if I'll dive in those depths at all

However, I am picturing past Grian as one of the figures of authority, for sure! I was leaning towards "clan leader" category, but shaman or a member of religious order makes sense, now that you're saying it :)

The wings/feathers are supposed to be a nod of respect to his mythical ancestor (past Pearl, Jimmy and Joel would have something similar), as well as furs of a big feline — to Scar's.

hi, pretty pretty pretty pretty please do you have designs for your beautiful au babies of scar and grian I would love to see them and draw them thank you also sorry lmao but I’m wondering if you have/will post the fic anywhere? Thank you

Hi hi!! There is a sketch of their designs in the first post, but it's all pretty loose, so you can tinker with them however you like :]

If we're talking about them in the past, the only important things about their designs (to me) are a hat with bird's wings, feathered cape and rings on both thumbs for Grian, and long hair with a gray strand, dark hooded cloak with fur and earrings for Scar. I also thought of giving Grian a spear; Scar would probably have a bow and some bad ass cane. Maybe they'd have matching daggers??

(Also OMG if you'll ever draw them please please show me!! :D )

As for the fic — THERE IS NONE, I'm sorry! xD

I don't have enough time for it rn and am not really confident in my writing skills in english. + I think I said pretty much all there is to say already. However if any of our dear writers would like to collab on this, let me know, maaaaybe we could somehow make it a reality some day in theory mayhaps I'm not sure
