Fragmented Memories - Genshin Impact
apparently the same trauma realizationTM just keeps hitting at different levels, and each level hits you like a brick
Oh it's to be sure, the more beautiful you are, the fewer they are to protect you.
Scelestic Reveries - Fragmented Memories
The Beginning, Part 1
Long ago there was a little girl who felt everything people around her felt. It wasn’t just her family, or even her neighborhood. Everywhere the little girl went in the small town she lived in she picked up on other people’s feelings. It was too much for the little girl to handle because one person can’t handle the emotions of a town of ten thousand people. Luckily, the little girl had a friend very few people could see. He helped her to build a door inside her head to keep all the other people’s emotions out. When she was old enough her friend would teach her how to open the door just a little bit at a time, so she could sort through the other people’s feelings if she wanted to.
But something horrible was done to the little girl long before the lessons about the door should have taken place. The little girl learned that monsters hid behind normal faces. She couldn’t fight the monsters, so she put the memories of them behind the door, too. The door was very strong – it had been built to hold back the emotions of an entire town, after all. It held for years, much longer than it was intended to. But, as these things will, eventually the door began to leak. And when the girl was a thirty-five-year-old woman, the memories began to come back.
Trauma is a strange thing. It leaves a lasting effect on people, but in my case, I forgot everything. And I mean everything. Even now, after I’ve been through a couple of different treatments for trauma, I’ve got huge holes in my memories of childhood. It’s like I didn’t start living until I was ten years old, when the worst of the traumatic stuff was over. The memories I have from before that time seem attached to someone else. This was how I was able to survive what was done to me, but it makes it a very strange thing to experience.
