the past week and a half (after finishing Haven) has been full of short games for me. surprisingly, mostly puzzle games. I'm anticipating a new PC soonish rather than way later (which is super exciting btw) so I've been laying off the longer games haha
instead, I'll give 3-4 lines on the 7 games I did finish in that time (all of which I went on to 100%, other than Bright Memory)
so here we go under the cut, in order from oldest to latest played:
Florence
Florence is a wonderful little narrative game with great art and music (that'll probably stick around in my playlists when I want some instrumentals) that talks about romance, dreams, and life (and it kinda hits hard). It feels like it's made for mobile, but definitely doesn't take away the experience on PC. My favourite part of the gameplay would definitely be the speech bubbles because that was super fun haha
Bright Memory
Quick and face-paced FPS game with additional mechanics that spice up combat. Not much in the way of story or puzzles because of the short length of the games, unfortunately. But, it is a great intro to what I hope is the full experience in Bright Memory: Infinite (when I get to playing that)
FRAMED Collection
Two games in one, with impeccable story telling without words. The comic puzzles are fun, if not a lot of trial and error, but it's super interesting and I don't see it used often so it's nice to see someone using it. The style is very nice, with some jazz instrumental backing. It creates a great atmosphere that matches the idea of the game.
When the Past was Around
Another puzzle game (you'll see a pattern here, I hope), where the point-and-click puzzles tell a story that the main character experiences. The narrative is very thoughtful and speaks a lot on the experience of loss, in case that floats your boat (or on the off-chance is triggers you, I apologize). This game is a very lovely game that I'd put further up the list compared to the rest of these just for the style and the vibes
Tametsi
I got half way through this game when I just *couldn't* bring myself to solve the puzzles perfectly (without making a mistake, even though I could just screenshot and get back to it but the 100% didn't need it). If you're a fan of minesweeper, definitely something to play because it really wrecks (not an spelling error) your brain with strange shapes intersecting in strange ways. Definitely a brain busting puzzle game, despite its simple rules.
Turnip Boy Commits Tax Evasion
Okay, Turnip Boy seemed like such a cute little game, but the underlying tones are just... like damn I didn't expect something like that. Otherwise, very fun little top-down RPG that has a very distinct, humourous style and writing (which I very much appreciate).
AER Memories of Old
If you ever wanted to turn into a bird and fly through the skies and to different, fragmented floating islands, this is the game you're gonna wanna play. It's a puzzle game, whose vibes strike on the more relaxing side because there's no immediate danger, no timer or anything. While I finished it in 3 hours, I could definitely see a world where I take 5 or more just because I liked flying around
A clever premise for a puzzle game, and often genuinely funny scenes, but Framed doesn’t have the depth to offer anything more than a brief, if pleasant, diversion.

After a couple great weeks of Nintendo Download, I admit this one doesn’t have me quite as excited. The biggest reason for that is the vast number of upgraded rereleases that are out, including some collections of games. But that isn’t to say there’s nothing exciting, there is. This week still has a bunch of new AAA games, digital fare, sales and the like. It just lacks that special oomph I…
