Diane Keaton (1946-2025)
On October 11, People confirmed the passing of the beloved actress Diane Keaton in California at the age of 79. She was survived by her two children.
The legendary actress began her career on stage, appearing in the first Broadway production of the 1968 musical Hair, the next year she was nominated for a Tony for her performance in Woody Allen's comic play Play It Again, Sam.
In 70's, she made her on-screen debut in a small role in Lovers and Other Strangers (1970). Her biggest break was playing the role of Kay Adams-Corleone in Francis Ford Coppola's The Godfather (1972), a role she reprised in its sequels Part II (1974) and Part III (1990). She collaborated again with Woody Allen, starting in the film adaptation of Play It Again, Sam (1972), then Sleeper (1973) and Love and Death (1975). In their fourth collaboration in Annie Hall (1977), she won the Academy Award for Best Actress. Critics and fans noted her versatility as an actress starring from endearing comedies to acclaimed dramas. Aside from acting, she also known for her signature outfit, opting for relaxed menswear, blending masculine and feminine elements that made her a style icon.
She continues to play roles in box-office smash movies including The First Wives Club (1996) starring with Goldie Hawn and Bette Midler and Father of the Bride (1991) and its sequel.
Keaton also worked as a director in films like Heaven (1987), Unstrung Hero (1995), an episode of Twin Peaks and music videos for Belinda Carlisle, including the chart-topping single "Heaven Is a Place on Earth" [source 1] [source 2]
In later years, she have multiple collaboration with director Nancy Meyers, starring in the Book Club franchise. In 2021, she played as Justin Bieber's grandmother in his 'Ghost' music video.
In 2017, she became the 45th recipient of the Life Achievement Award from American Film Institute.
