You know how I always go on about the wild boars around where I live? Well, my cuz and I just went on a walk at night on a path that loops on itself, and we were forced to turn around at the 3/4 point and walk the entire way back, because, you guessed it, boars.
The suckers were like... 10-15 meters away, maybe? We couldn’t see them, we just heard the unmistakable racket of boars grunting and foraging for roots and acorns. And because my cousin is not a complete idiot (unlike me), she forced me to turn around instead of standing still and waiting for them to go away. Those things can sprint, and you don’t want to test your luck trying to outrun a charging boar, so better to slip away quietly and add an extra 40 mins to your hike.
(To be fair to the boars, I have heard of like one boar-related death in the past five years, excluding car accidents, which aren’t the boars’ fault. Boar hunters kill way more people than boars do. Still, I’m not too keen on getting a Darwin Award.)
God, I unironically love this place. Also, the stars were beautiful, and so was the forest.
