Author Frances Ellen Watkins Harper wrote more than a dozen books and her work the “bronze muse” died in Pennsylvania, Philadelphia. 

Harper was also promoted equal rights for woman and African Americans. 

She was a worker for the Underground Railroad. 

In 1896, she helped establish the NACW which is the National Association for Colored Women.
