It’s kind of bittersweet because I love Chandler so much. He’s a phenomenal actor and we’ve had two years of chemistry together.

You're Going to Shine

So I don't usually write RPF but since it upset me that Chandler didn't get a chance to say goodbye to Freddie, I needed to write something.

Chandler twisted his hands nervously as he made his way down the hall towards Freddie's dressing room. Although he'd been asked to be let out of his contract early if possible, he honestly hadn't been expecting it; he'd been planning to stay on through December. So he wasn't at all prepared to do this. Not now. Not like this. 

He stopped in front of Freddie's door, took a deep breath, and knocked.

"It's open!" Freddie called from inside. 

Chandler pushed the door open and Freddie swung around in his chair to greet him. "Hey, man!" Freddie smiled at him.

"Can we talk?" Chandler asked, shutting the door behind him and sitting down on the couch.

"Sure. Sounds serious," Freddie said, still smiling.

"Today's my last day," Chandler said without pretense. He couldn't drag it out. It would be too painful. 

Freddie's smile vanished. "What do you mean it's your last day? I mean, I know they're recasting Will for when you leave, I screen tested people,  but that's in December."

"A few months ago I had asked them to let me out early if they could. They told me this morning that they cast someone and that today would be my last day."

"I...but we don't have any scenes together today," Freddie said flatly.

"I know," Chandler whispered. "I wish we did. You've been my favorite person to work with here, Freddie."

"It's going to be so odd to be here, being Sonny, without you," Freddie responded.

Chandler made a noise in the back of his throat in an attempt to keep himself from crying. "You're gonna be great, Freddie. I'm so excited to see you keep 'WilSon'" (he did little air quotes) "alive."

"You think the fans will still see them as 'WilSon'?" Freddie asked sarcastically.

Chandler laughed. "The not-crazy ones, at least. I've read my mentions. Most of them have been so supportive." He was quiet for a few seconds and then said, "We gave Will and Sonny's relationship a starting block, but you're gonna make Will and Sonny a super couple and it's gonna be fantastic. You're going to shine."

Freddie bit his lip and Chandler knew he was trying not to cry too. "I better be your date to your first Oscars."

Chandler threw his head back in laughter. "It's a promise." He stopped for a beat and then said, "I should go to makeup. They'll wonder where I am." He stood up and Freddie mimicked him.  "It's been an honor to work with you these last two years. I couldn't have asked for a better partner."

Freddie walked him to the door. "You're going to shine too, Chan. In school, in life, in whatever acting you do in the future. And I so look forward to seeing it happen. It's been my pleasure to be your fake boyfriend."

Chandler chuckled and pulled Freddie into a hug. "Keep in touch, okay?"

"You too."

They pulled apart, stared at each other for a few seconds, and then Chandler swiped his hand briefly across Freddie's and left.

"I can't thank Freddie enough because it's not fair that I got this because I get to work with Freddie who's absolutely, I mean, incredible. He's present, he's all the things you would want in a scene partner and again, like I said with Deidre, he brings me up to his level and he is the best actor I could ask to work with, absolutely. It's my privilege.
