"A sweet tooth leads you somewhere unexpected."
Now, Frankie is in no way a superstitious guy -- on occasion, he may cross the road when he spots a black cat and perhaps, he keeps his rabbit's foot keychain on his keys at all times after that time he left it at home and fell off of his horse, Buttermilk, later in the day. However, if there's one thing he is fully seated for every week? Goddess Tellings. A little show he's been watching on the BHS channel since he can remember, nose pressed against the screen and legs crossed. He never misses it, with this week's episode posing an adventure for himself. He doesn't have the biggest of sweet tooth's but if the Goddess claims it'll lead him to somewhere unexpected, he's there to heed her call.
After his usual, ready mix brownies were a bust -- in surprises, never in chocolatey flavor -- Frankie made the trek over to the best, and only bakery, in town. The decision was grueling inside, having taken roughly twenty minutes after mulling over a strawberry tart but he chose right; a carrot cake cookie, with the thickest layer of cream cheese frosting on top. He steps out of the shop, cookie in one hand, and breathes out a sigh of contentment. Yes, this sweet tooth will lead him somewhere crazy, he tells himself, slowly starting to take the wooden steps down to the dirt path. Maybe he'll wind up at the springs, stark naked and diving into the water. Or, maybe he--
Shoot, did he forget his keys inside?
His free hand pats wildly at his jeans pockets, his head bowing down. However, the grip on his Tasty Treat slowly loosens, and it falls into the dirt. Frosting side down.
He gasps, eyes wide as he observes the cookie desecrated in front of him....and he admits defeat, collapsing onto the final step of the Not-So-Happy Apple's porch, his head falling into his hands. And, he says out loud, voice muffled through freckled fingers, to no one in particular--
"This is the worst day of my life."
