Liv’s day was slowly but surely going from puzzling to downright nightmarish. Not only had she fallen asleep next to a man who was then, as she rolled onto her side to face him and steal one last cuddle, nowhere to be found – only minutes after the realization that Koda had apparently walked off (and yet, there were no signs of his doing so, belongings he had left, a door that was still locked, meaning no one could have left since only Liv had a key to her apartment) she received a call from work telling her that people had apparently gone missing. Vanished without a trace. She was told there was no need to come in given most people in her department and likely also her students had wound up in a state of sheer and utter panic.
Although she could feel her own inner turmoil increase with every moment that went by, Liv was not one to sit idly by and watch panic unfurl. After dropping by Tuah’s place only to realize her neighbor had disappeared, too, she did the only thing that made sense to her and decided to investigate. She went to Koda’s apartment first, but quickly realized he had not gone home. Vanished without a trace. The next logical step was to check his workplace – given that for some reason, neither calls nor texts would go through.
Stood outside the fire department where he was nowhere to be found either, Liv realized, in spite of her need to cling to reason at all times, she had run out of places to look. Equally disconcerting, she had no idea what the underlying cause of this could be. It was too big a deal to be a coincidence, too close to a full moon to disregard that link, and yet… she had no clue what it could be. A mental sweep of every nook and cranny of her brain, and she could not think of a single similar incident in supernatural history. What she had been adamant to avoid hit her with a force that could no longer be denied – pure, undiluted panic.
In her growing state of terror, she came to a halt and leaned against a wall just outside the department. “Think, think, think.” She muttered under her breath, feeling the presence of another but she paid them no mind. Her eyes were half-shut, hands clenched to fists as she wracked her brain for answers, but all her mind spat back was more panic and confusion.
