irl james fitzjames was like infinitely more weird than he is portrayed in either the terror book or the amc adaptation. diva had this whole plan to walk from canada to russia, then to china once the expedition was the rousing success everyone thought it should be, then write an earth-shattering memoir about his journey. zero arctic experience, by the way. also wrote and published a truly terrible 10,000 word poem about some battle he was in. all of this in the name of his daddy issues. rip queen, i wish they didn’t have to eat you as your bones that were only identified in 2024 demonstrate. they just don’t make men like you anymore.
