as it quickly comes to the end of a decade, does anyone hear miss the 2000s?

so here I display an...interesting trend of my taste in characters concerning villains (or in the Thing's case, monster in one of my favourite films)

sentient creatures/eldritch beings who can shapeshift in their own ways into different things and people when it suits them and may generally take a recognisable, if sometimes vaguely, humanoid form and have abilities and appearances generally beyond human comprehension; they are also malicious and violent and pretty much entirely arrogant and murderous

...also, sometimes there's tentacles, which is frankly alarming for me
