is there... any sort of explanation as to why darnold managed to get out?

It's pretty simple, really. Darnold was stuck as his Virtual Avatar, being inside the program with the other AIs. What Spork would call "a funny little version" of yourself.

Honestly, I just had to shut down the computer and reboot it. Darnold was back to the waking world, and the others were fine. Like a reset on a gaming system.

how's the program gonna work? it must've been pretty complicated if it took you so long to get it up an running!

It’s pretty simple! You give the program a scenario and then you have to figure out how to safely handle it. That wasn’t the hard part, though.

The hard part was getting the A.I. to work.
