In summary, HEVS (Hazardous EnVironment Simulation) is a program that simulates dangerous situations within Black Mesa to ensure that people know the proper safety procedures (they don’t) or how they react in emergencies (it’s poorly).
Gordon is an AI within the program that both acts as a guide and an assistant to whoever is running through the simulation, Tommy is the lead programmer (who better to create a safety simulation program than the man who’s read up on Every OSHA rule?), and Dr. Coomer, Bubby, and Benrey help bug test.
