Personality: A deeply feeling and caring person, who expresses themselves with acts of service and quality time. Ref is someone who tries to appear calm and collected externally, possibly even cold and unapproachable. But if you pry, you will find he is someone who is extremely excited to experience every day, and is quite a sappy person.
Before the AU Glitch, he was more upbeat and motivated, but since the Glitch, he is a bit more subdued and leans more into appearing unphased. He's Sarcastic and ironic in humour, not afraid to joke about darker topics. These days, Ref compartmentalises a lot of his experiences and thoughts, which can lead to out of pocket reactions and conclusions.

Backstory: Fraudtale was originally described as a universe that lacked an entity that could reset, and rather reset every time a story was "concluded", completely and entirely.
Not every run garunteed every character was born, but if a character was created twice, were they not garunteed to live the same life experiences. But rather, souls were reincarnated into the next story, allowing the cycle of life to continue endlessly.
Until, this randomisation became the AUs own undoing. Spending so many lifetimes resetting and telling new stories, finally Frisk fell underground, and with their appearance, came unnatural resets. Everything was fine at first. But when they reset... It was the same people. The story didn't change, just repeated. It kept repeating, not even changing their own actions would end the loop. Frisk accpeted their fate, resigning themself to being the only person who remembers and changes with each reset.
Until people began experiencing deja-vu. Then, false memories. Forgetting who they were. when they were and where they were. Lifetimes of reincarnated memories and experiences became corrupted by the unnatural resets... And remembered by the souls.
Love. Loss. Sins. Blessings. Every action and inaction was remembered, slowly but surely friendships turned sour, when inherited grudges were revealed. Love blossomed between people who have never met in this lifetime. Suddenly, lifetimes were not enough to forgive or forget, people did time for crimes they did not commit. People praised for actions they would not choose now.
Remembering who you were has consequences, and you'll find you understand yourself less. With people remembering his most recent past life... Sans is lacking severely in friends, as well as struggling to keep his relationship with his brother.
Sans was a Royal Guard in this lifetime, but since the Resets were impacted by Frisk's resets... He has been put on leave. No one will hire him. Despite Papyrus's refusal to speak with him, he allows Sans to follow him around at his job.
Fears: Scopophobia (fear of being stared at)
Trauma: Like many others in his AUs, he is unpacking and trying to separate himself from the sudden influx of memories that aren't his own. He was executed in the last AU as punishment for murder, the entire scenario frequents his nightmares.

Talking Style: Flat tone, but large volume range that changes to match how he feels. Stutters when surprised or overwhelmed, but usually covers it up by just completely changing what he was saying.
Typing Style: The only capital is the ones the phone atomically puts in. He uses emojis as sentences, if applicable. He will not translate them. Good luck with that. Doesn't react to messages, always responds in chat instead.

1. ) Decently fit in this life!
2. ) He doesn't yet fully remember a lot of his past educations.
3. ) Referee was named by a Catti in a Farmtale AU, after he accidentally trauma dumped on her.

2. ) Ref lacks friends in his AU, but it wasn't always that way.
3. ) Despite Frisk being the direct cause for everything that went wrong in his life, he doesn't take out any angst on them. Because they're a kid, regardless of how many lives they've lived.

1. ) Always picks up shiny things on the floor. Usually regrets doing so.
2. ) His arms are hard to hug people with, so he affectionately bonks his head on people as an alternative.
3. ) Dances and sings when he thinks he's alone.

I was just thinking, I explained a ton about Ref’s brother, Keepsake, who is our resident Papyrus in Fraudtale. But, there are so many other characters that deserve some spotlight! I have so many other fully developed characters that I’d love to tell you about! So, send me an ask or a comment for what Fraudtale character you’d like me to talk about!
I will be editing a few posts, in order to account for the lore rewrite. I liked the story before but I’ve made it better. Deadass kinda excited about it.
