omfg. sorry, but I TOTALLY KNeW THAT SOMEONE ELSE PLAYED HIM WITH THAT URL. i just didn’t know who!

    i was rewatching, because lbr one does not simply escape LOST, and so i was like oOHOOoOH what if i bought my sawyer muse back. naturally i went to save the url again, but yeah it was gone. gdi. stupid me. my fault here, no one else's. ahjkAHJGKJS. though it's all well and good now because you're on my dashboard again and ur still so so amazing.

Sometimes, he still feels like he's just sleepwalking through life, like the best parts of him will always be back on that island, buried in Juliet's heart underground. And now what's left of him is dusty and used up, and he thinks Kate deserves better than that. For some reason, she sticks around, she checks up on him, she drags him out for drinks and burgers, and crazy, unplanned trips out to the beach to clear their heads. He doesn't say it, but it's the only thing keeping him alive most days. Today, they go back to her place after wine tasting. Wine tasting, of all things. He chuckles to himself, still thinking of it, still amazed that he even agreed to it. He never thought he'd be the kind of guy going wine tasting, but he liked it a lot. Flushed from a combination of the afternoon sun and the heady wine still coursing through them, they relax together on the couch, watching a movie. Kate doesn't make it even ten minutes in before her head's lolling against his shoulder, and he chuckles softly to himself again, wrapping an arm around her waist. 

Thank you, he tells her silently.

There are so many nights when he just wants to crawl into the darkness all around him, become intimately acquainted with it, give up the last vestiges of life he has to it, in the hopes it will take pity on him and just usher him quietly into the shadows where Juliet’s ghost beckons him. He’s not the type to put a gun to his head, or take pills, or anything like that. He’ll live out this life, whatever’s left of it, but he doesn’t much care for anything. 

                                                                         Except her.

Kate pulls him back every time, when he hopes he might just wake up in the oblivion that Juliet inhabits, and instead is greeted with the abrasive light of a new day that somehow dawns without her. Every time he wants to slide away, Kate is reaching for him again. It’s damn annoying, but he’s also grateful. And after months and months of pain that burns him from the inside out, he’s actually got a genuine smile on his face when he looks at her.

It’s nothing special, as days go; just a trip to the coast with a tank of gas, some cash, and two hastily made sandwiches. They don’t talk much, and he likes it that way, because he hasn’t felt this kind of peace in so long, and it helps him organize his thoughts coherently. By the time they pull up to a quiet beach and park the car, he’s feeling serene in a way he’s sure he doesn’t deserve, but it makes him happy, and he wants Kate to know that. She’s one of the big reasons for it, after all, and so he lightly tugs on her hand and pulls her close for a moment, pressing a soft kiss to her cheek. 

"Thanks, sunshine."
