Very often in fact, when people portray something positively in the fiction that they create, it's because that's what they believe in real life.
Exhibit A. That gave me whiplash while watching an unrelated video that happened to mention his name:
The Black Cloud, by Fred Hoyle
At one point in this story, which I picked up without googling the author's name, ~cuz why would I need to do that?~, a scientist in this story that we are meant to agree with disparages the concept of the Big Bang theory.
This is your cue to Google who Fred Hoyle is.
