so great to see you posting about freddie highmore, a person with a great track record of playing mentally ill characters respectfully and hashtag normally, in his awesome and skilled role as norman bates (a character you are neutral about), as you normally do on normal days

eeheehee thank you very much! Honestly I never much cared for Norman Bates. I know he’s a big part of queer + film history but can I just say? Black and white movies are borrrrring. He didn’t even seem that queer to me, just kind of creepy (he’s really awkward and overly open with Marion and has a weird hobby), so I only watched like. The first third of Psycho 1960? After Marion got killed he became the protagonist and I just didn’t want to follow him. -_-

But Highmore brought a lot of depth to him! I was a lot more willing to follow his relationship with his mother. The show itself raises really interesting ideas, like “What do you do with a mentally ill loved one who is a danger to others?” They killed him at the end, spoilers, which was bittersweet, because now he’s at peace.
