“FIESTAS DE ENERO”
by Freddy Diaz
Born in Detroit, Freddy Diaz says there was always a lot of pressure on him to succeed. Raised by immigrant parents who spent most of his childhood working multiple jobs put pressure on him to choose a career after high school and it was tough to envision a future as an artist. Diaz comes from a graffiti background and building on that he found a way to partner with business owners in Southwest Detroit and use his talents to enhance the community. With increasing opportunities to work with national and international brands Diaz has become widely recognized for his work on murals, canvas, sculpture, and clothing. Given an opportunity by @1xrun to paint something reflecting his heritage for @muralsinthemarket, Diaz recently painted “Fiestas de Enero” at Adelaide and Russell Streets in Detroits @EasternMarket neighborhood. @swfreddy
