Pretty much the best video of all time (btw intro and outro are very flashy; seizure warning)
Annotated Bibliography
Jobs, Steve. "IPhone Keynote 2007 Complete." YouTube. YouTube, 3 Oct. 2011. Web. 23 Mar. 2015.
Steve Jobs introduces the world to the iPhone in this 2007 keynote, setting the tech world ablaze. The intended audience was the tech world, who watched Jobs in a live presentation of his new device, using it to surf the web, make a call, and browse Google Earth. Jobs convinces his audience – both in the auditorium and watching online – that this new technology would revolutionize the mobile industry. The video is relevant to my project because it shows one video argument to adopt a new technology, as my project will be.

Harris, Jensen. "First Look at Windows 8.1." YouTube. YouTube, 5 June 2013. Web. 23 Mar. 2015.
Jensen Harris introduces the first major update to the Windows 8 operating system. The intended audience is people who currently have Windows 8. He's telling them of the improvements made to the operating system. He shows off the new search feature and an interesting way to search the web. This video is relevant to my project because it shows another video argument to adopt a new technology, just like my project.

Wright, Will. "Spore 35min Demonstration from the GDCe (2005)." YouTube. YouTube, 9 Oct. 2006. Web. 23 Mar. 2015.
Will Wright speaks over a recorded video of expected gameplay for Spore. The intended audience was the audience at the Game Developers Conference Europe, and dedicated gamers who were interested in the game who watched the video later on YouTube. The video shows gameplay in all stages of the game, trying to convince people to buy a new technology by only showing them what it's like to watch someone else use it and talk about it, which is exactly the medium and purpose of my project.

"Meet the New Windows." YouTube. YouTube, 28 Nov. 2012. Web. 23 Mar. 2015.
Windows shows a video of the features on Windows 8 being used in rapid succession, with fast paced music playing in the background and interlaced with slides explaining the next feature about to be shown. The ad is much more focused for a general audience, and as such is shorter and less technical information is transmitted. The video is relevant to my project because it shows that an advertisement for an operating system can be interesting , and it shows some ways I can make my own video more interesting.

My proposed project is a video which would be presented to the class of a user starting up Ubuntu, the popular Linux operating system on a computer, and using it for a variety of normal choices, as a sort of advertisement for the operating system. The video would open with a fade in to the desktop, and show the user doing several basic things, browse the internet, download apps, run them, play a game. Aurally, a voice over explaining why certain tasks are easier or quicker on Ubuntu as compared to Windows/OSx. The video would highlight the differences between the more traditional operating systems and Ubuntu, and hopefully convince the viewers that it would create a better computing experience to run Ubuntu. Also, the video would serve as a soft intro into the world of Linux operating systems for the uninitiated. The video might conclude with several quick power point type slides exploring more concrete differences between the operating systems than the rest of the video, such as size, the advantages of open-source and the updates which are more common with Linux systems than the other operating systems.
Gatekeeping Theory (4:32)
xXAlex0101Xx -- Gatekeeping is the worst thing, ever, I mean it totally makes me feel left out. I HATE GATEKEEPING AND WISH IT WOULD GO AWAY!!
ProfRad -- Gatekeeping keeps the standard of academic practices high and makes sure the poor uneducated fellows don't distract the ones of us who understand things.
john2432 -- Did anyone else notice how he mispronunced Cavalry? this guy is clearly a massive idiot and a jerk.
leftDolphinisbestdolphin -- WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG! SO WRONG.
These two photos portray two ways of doing the same thing, giving a computer instructions on how to behave -- programming.
The first picture is from an old IBM computer, which would recieve the punch cards and read them. 1s for the holes, 0s for everything else. The second picture is a screenshot of someone making a minimap in the popular development enviorment emacs.
