Best of 2024 Movies #9: Alien Romulus
As I mentioned previously with Apes, the other Fox IP that Disney managed to continue and in this case, give new life to was the Alien Franchise.
Here set between both of the iconic original films, we see a mine worker and her android brother seek to leave the company’s control via swiping hypersleep tech along with their connections.
But aboard that station code named after the Rome wolf twins, we see how Weyland Yutani took what the Nostromo found and began to figure what made them worth being expendable.
Fede Alvarez brings the sheer sense of terror missing in previous Alien movies back to the forefront via some familiar and new moments of terror.
Including seeing what happens between the chestburster and main Xenomorph.
Along with the creative Zero G sequence in Alien Blood.
Would have been a near perfect movie if it hadn’t taken what Alien Resurrection did and raised the ratio to 88-12.
Still a very great watch.
SUM 22: Alien returns to its horror roots and is given new life via the direction of Fede Alvarez and creative additions to the Xenomorph legacy.
