Classic Hollywood power couple Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward at their joint hand and foot print ceremony held at Grauman's Chinese Theatre on Hollywood Boulevard on May 25th, 1963, top photo by Lawrence Schiller, middle two photos by unknown press photographers, bottom photo by Frederic J. Brown. Married for fifty years until Paul's passing in 2008, the Newman's co-signing ceremony, though risky at the time, ended up being a prescient idea, permanently immortalizing one of Tinseltown's rare long-lasting celebrity unions. While Joanne wisely kept her stiletto heels on when she stepped in the wet cement, Paul added a note of humor by taking off his shoes and socks and planting his oddly positioned bare feet in the gloppy muck. It's of interest to note that while their Grauman's ceremony was as "Mr. and Mrs.", Joanne was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1958 as one of the original eight stars to receive one, but Paul didn't get a Walk of Fame Star until decades later in 1994. Joanne's star is located on the north side of the 6800 block of Hollywood Boulevard and Paul's star is on the south side of the 7000 block of Hollywood Boulevard.
