end period poverty
Shoutout to the Richmond airport for having free pads, it’s been six months (for medically expected reasons no worries) so I didn’t bring any
I think we all would want menstrual products to be cheaper. Could you imagine a world where we sell midol in a dollar store? But under this capitalist and high key misogynistic land we never will see the day unless we do something about it. Inspire change!!
Overseen in my bathroom at school.
How nice :)
New policy follows proposed legislation that would broaden access to menstrual products for inmates.
A Bureau of Prisons memo issued early this month said that women should be provided with a range of menstrual products, including tampons and various kinds of sanitary pads, at no cost.
The provision is part a larger package of proposed overhauls meant to improve basic rights for the women who comprise the fastest growing segment of the U.S. prison population.
Grass-roots activists are working to ease the stigma surrounding menstruation and improve the availability of products to women who are homeless or poor or have limited access to the products they need to care for their basic health and hygiene needs. Many say that tampons and pads should be provided freely, like toilet paper, in public facilities.
Last year, the New York City Council passed first-of-its-kind legislation making menstrual products freely available in public schools, shelters and jails. Colorado lawmakers approved a plan to provide free tampons and pads to inmates.
Hey y’all. I was given about 50+ of these boxes of pads for free. Thought about keeping them for when/if I fall on hard times in the future & can’t afford any (can happen to anyone, at any time), but figured there might be someone who might be in that position now.
I donated about 50% of them to a local organization & would like to give the remaining (pictured above) to someone online. Each box contains 3 pads. If you or someone you know might benefit from them, send me a private message! I’ll take care of any shipping charges.
Even if you don’t need them, please reblog this post so it can reach someone who does. Thanks!
A Week in Hell
I want a game show called "A Week in Hell". It's contestants are all guys who make period jokes or think pads should NOT be free. The way you play it is that all of the contestants would be put threw what women face on a normal period. Cramps, nausea, the whole shabang. The one who lasts the longest wins. We'll see how they think of periods after.
