*…There’s something in the dark in front you.

*It looks like an answering machine.

*The little red light is blinking.

*Seems like the machine is full.

*You listen to the first message.

"Hey, Spamton. It's Mike. I heard what happened last night, so...I just thought I'd, you know, check on you. I hope you're okay. Text me. Later."

*There's another message.

"Spamton, it's me again. Where are you? I get that you're probably mad, but it's been days, and no one knows where you are. Tenna's up my ass about getting in touch with you, so...you'd really be doing me a favor if you’d just pick up...

"Well, call me back when you can. Bye."

*There's another message.

"Listen, Spamton, you can't just not show up for work. People talk in this industry; you don't want to be known as the guy who doesn't show up. Answer your phone!"

*There's another message.

"Where are you?! We had to give your spot away! I thought Tenna was gonna blow a gasket! You're not seriously gonna make me deal with him by myself, are you?! Call me!"

*There's another message.

"Look, is this about that contract? I told him, okay? I told him what you told me about not being able to sign it! I thought I got through to him! I really thought it was settled, that he was going to drop it. I don't know what made him change his mind.

"Or...maybe he never changed his mind. Maybe he was just lying to me when he... Argh, I don't know what he's thinking anymore... Some of the things he's saying about you are...

Why didn't you tell us?! Please, call me! There's gotta be something we can do for you! If you're in trouble, you need to tell us! Spamton, please! Answer your phone!"

*There's another message. It sounds like the speaker is sobbing.

"Look, I don't care if you hate me! I don't care if you never want to see me again! Just text me! Something, anything! Even if it's just a 'Fuck you!' Just so I know that you're still alive...! Please...don't do this to me...!"

*There's another message. It sounds like the speaker is screaming.

"Why?! Why did you have to sign that contract?! Did you forget what you told me?! How scared you were?! You think I can forget something like that?!"

"What did he say to you?! Why is he so important that he can make you...?"

*You hear more sobbing before the message cuts off.

*There's one last message. Play it?

"Hey, it's me. Sorry about my last message. I haven't been sleeping much, so... I just kinda freaked out.

"I don't know if you've been listening to these, but...I wanted to let you know I quit my job. I left the resignation letter on his desk. I... I just couldn't face him. Even after all this.

"I'm coming to the city to look for you, and I'm not coming back until I've seen your face. So, if you do hate me, soon you'll have to chance to tell me in person.

"Stay safe until I get there. See you soon."
