Somehow... somehow... it’s the second-to-last day of this year’s Mystrade Advent Calendar. Thank you all so much for joining us for this event. It’s been an absolute blast, and we really hope you had fun.

For the ask list thing that's going around: 4 and 9. 😄 I love your writing! I (so far) write established relationship fics that are generally canon-compliant through s3 (I really don't want to write parentlock), and in my mind they are set post-one-of-your-s3- fix-its. 😀

Oh, fun ones! Cool! And thanks for your incredibly sweet comments!! Yeah - parentlock is the major problem with writing post-series 4 stuff, sigh...

4: Name three authors that were influential to your work and tell why. HMM. This is tough! My favourite authors are a good mix of people with nothing in common, haha! I grew up reading Tolkien, L.M. Montgomery, Madeleine L’Engle, C.S. Lewis, Rosamunde Pilcher, and added on John Irving, Haruki Murakami, Margaret Atwood, George Orwell, George R. R. Martin, Bill Bryson (for humour!). I see very, very occasional glimpses of Irving and Pilcher in my writing, but not really, and the others, not at all. Maybe Bryson for our shared love of the absurd, but I don’t often write humour here in this particular realm. When I started out writing fanfic back in 2003 or so, it was in the Harry Potter fandom and at the time, there were a lot of gimmicky writing fads going out - stream of consciousness, second person POV, song fic, etc, and I found I didn’t really have patience for most of it. I just wanted to write solid, narrative stories. People literally called me old-fashioned and boring, but hey. You have to write you, you know? I always hope that people will like it - but never write to cater to expectations!

9: Do you set yourself deadlines? Not when I’m writing for free, lol. I mean, if there is a set deadline and I won’t be paid if I don’t get it finished in time, then okay. Otherwise, no. Real life gets in the way, which is tedious and stupid and boring, but I can’t compromise the things I have to do for the thing I want to do, which is write fic. At this point, though... apart from my inter-fandom hiatus from 2006-2013 when I discovered Sherlock, I’ve been writing on and off since 2003, so I basically know how fast I’ll be able to get something done. For my current fic, I estimate another two weeks or so - though who knows, the muses could take hold of me and set me into a writing frenzy. I wrote all of Scars in a long weekend, pretty much, and that’s over 60K. Then again, my last fic took forever to write because I was so harried with tedious other life stuff, so yeah. No is the short answer! :P
