❝ you put your arm around me and i literally felt my knees buckle, this is so pathetic. ❞

It was times like that that Hanji treasured. The little moments between the pair of them. The pillow talk they shared in the middle of the night. This time had started like many before; one of them gasping for breath from a nightmare that felt so real. It was Levi’s turn tonight. Sitting upright, eyes wider than ever as he caught his breath. Hanji’s eyes were wide as well, Levi’s gasp bringing her out of her own sleep. She touched his shoulder, her arm around him, “It’s okay Levi, it’s just a dream” she spoke softly, sitting up and kissing his cheek.
Hanji used her arm to pull him down, letting his head rest on her chest, her fingers stroking through the short hair, the sweat starting to dampen it. “It’s been a while for you” she muttered, making sure the covers were over them both again as Levi’s breathing settled. She let him sit in silence for a while as he came back to reality, her arm still around his shoulders, the other moved from his hair to his hand.
She let the silence linger for a while before she looked down at him on her chest, “Remember the first time we shared a bed?” Hanji spoke, keeping her voice light and soft, “Who would have thought you enjoyed being the little spoon” she chuckled gently. It was something she kept close to her heart. Having Levi Ackerman listen to her heart beat in the night, sometimes having her ear on his. It was what kept her sane.
“I guess it wasn’t as awkward as when I got drunk and kissed you for the first time” she laughed at the memory that had snuck up on her as she continued to soothe him down from his panic.
It was then she heard him mutter “you put your arm around me and I literally felt my knees buckle, this is so pathetic” . She paused her touch before smiling again, “Oh yeah?” Hanji smirked as he tilted his head up to look back at her, “Humanity’s strongest, taken down by the drunk scientist” she teased, letting go of his hand to poke his nose. “They’ll be talking about it for years to come” she added, letting her hand trail down to his waist, feeling the bumps of scars interrupting the bumps of his muscles. She had every scar committed to memory just by touch alone. The years passed since that day when they finally came face to face with how they felt.
“It’s not pathetic though” she added, leaning forward to kiss the nose she just tapped, “I remember that night, and you were everything but pathetic”.
Hanji smiled despite the sleep in her eyes, leaning back up to kiss his lips this time. Softly, and lingering, creating a lasting intimate kiss, shared between the two of them and no one else would know about it.
