I would like to express my sincere gratitude for selecting me and my fellow students to represent the University of Hawaii and the Shidler College of Business in various countries throughout Asia. We hope to make you proud as we pursue our goals and passions that will develop our professional and personal lives. Our lives will be forever changed by this experience as we continue to develop an international perspective so we can make real changes around the world.
Studying abroad in one of the largest financial centers in Asia will help me to further develop my skills as a financier. Enrolling in courses at the City University of Hong Kong, one of the top schools in the country located in the central part of Hong Kong, will be a great opportunity for me to learn new skills in Finance that I may not learn anywhere else in the world. This unique opportunity will provide me with such great experiences and wonderful memories that will stay with me forever.
I hope to gain valuable knowledge as I become more accustomed to various cultural aspects and the different nuances of life compared to that of Hawaii. Spending an extensive amount of time in Hong Kong will allow me to develop an understanding of the business practices of and an adaptivity to another country where I hope to one day work. I will expand my network and build relationships with valuable connections in Hong Kong that I hope to utilize as a resource in the future.
This scholarship has helped me in many ways. It allows me to be a part of an elite group of students that represent their university across the nation and has made this journey more affordable. Finally, it has allowed me to develop my confidence and believe in myself - both qualities that I need to be successful. It is through the generosity of Mr. Graeme and Alec Freeman that I am able to study abroad in Hong Kong, for without it none of this would have been possible.
