I’m making slow but steady progress on my April #dresdenneighborhood for the #dresdenneighborhoodsal I’m running on my blog. I made all my houses stripes! Now I need your help deciding if I want A. Polka dot roofs B. Striped roofs C. Any type of fabric roofs ? I can’t decide!!! And still, all these years later @lauragunnart #poppyfabric is still one of my favorites ever! I finished my “scrappy elephant” just in time ... any idea for s better name? I drew my design on paper and traced it onto #heatnbondlite from @thermoweb I cut out each piece and picked a scrap of fabric to fuse it to. Once all my pieces were on I added quarter inch bias tape that I made myself to outline the scraps. It was fun and went together in one afternoon! I free motion quilted it with @aurifilthread of course! #pqseason9 #projectquilting #scraptastic #iloveelephants #elephantlove #freerangequilter thank you @bluebarquilts for being an amazing sponsor!!!!

#besttipever is today's prompt from @amyscreativeside for the #IGQuiltFest . I could not decide what to share with you all ... setting seams, using a stiletto, not worrying about perfection, doing you - all fantastic tips but ones you've probably been seeing all day. I'll share with a little secret on how I get unique quilts. Whenever I buy a line of fabric ... no matter how much I love it as a group ... I wrap it up individually on @polarnotions boards and put it in my stash by color. Always by color - never by line. If there are fabrics that read the same color I try to mix them into my stash apart from each other. Now - when I'm picking fabrics for a project I have to put them together - not a designer - me. I never realized until I started putting my quilts into shows just how odd my color/pattern/texture combinations are ... they are unique and choosing my own fabrics is one of my favorite parts of quilting. #freerangequilter #uniquequilts

#IGQuiltFest hosted by @amyscreativeside I'm kim and my quilting/creative business is #persimondreams. I named it after my youngest daughter and the fact that my best ideas come to me in my dreams! I love to make quilts with no fear or boundaries - mixing unexpected colors and patterns or throwing a few batiks into a modern quilt - I'm truly a #freerangequilter my favorite thing to do is go to guilds and groups to share the story of my quilting journey. It's aptly called "Wildly Careening Into Quilts - What I learned by not knowing what I didn't know". Can't wait to meet you all during the festival fun!
