WHY DO I WANT TO BE A TEACHER?

-Because I want to be a doctor, a lawyer, a gardener, a scuba diver, a taxi driver, a zookeeper, a librarian, a president, a chef, a vet, an actress, a waitress, a writer, a comedian, a therapist, a nanny, the captain of a ship, and an artist. As a teacher, I can be all of those things, because I'll be there in the lives of any student I teach. They may not grow up to be scientists or teachers like me, but they'll be damn good coaches and parents and underwater basket weavers, or WHATEVER they want to be. The most valuable thing I can think of to be is a teacher to all the mechanics and shoe store clerks and tight rope walkers and yes--maybe teachers--of the world and just for a second, a blip on the timeline of their amazing lives, I'll make a difference for someone.

Documentary  Photography Plan/ideas for first shoots.

When choosing which type of photography to explore out of fashion, Commercial, Fine art or documentary photography I seemed to feel a lot of my ideas were more condensed into a documentary project rather than the other options. In my other previous projects I always wanted to show how intimacy and bonded relationships can work and be perceived in an image. So when researching documentary photography I came across Lee Freidlanders work. I have come across his work before but I felt this project will be highly influenced by his comtempary take on urban society which includes portraits in some of his shots. I am quite interested in people in my work in there personal surroundings providing a feeling of warmth and intimacy in this specific environment. For example my Nan has a lot of rare and beautiful objects in her art room which really capture a beautiful history but in her personal environment. So i thought when starting off my project I could use her and her personal objects in a shoot that can show history in a personal light. Another idea is hanging personal objects on places like Trees or woodland locations to show a contrast in man made and natural surfaces or growth. Even though Documentary photograph provides a large pathway, I feel that personal objects and surroundings will really help my develop my work and implement other ideas for future projects!
