Laurence's background that I made up cause I'm a history nerd and neurodivergent

Laurence's family were bourgeois doctors and intellectuals who supported the French Revolution and its ideals of liberty, equality, and fraternity. However, when the Revolution took a violent turn during the Reign of Terror (1793-1794), they fled to Britain to escape the political purges and the rising influence of radical factions. In Britain, they continued their intellectual work as doctors but also advocating for social reform and illuministic values. Thanks to their jobs and fairt Wealthy background, they were able to afford Laurence's education at Byrgenwerth,

Laurence was raised with Voltairean ideals of reason, secularism, and progress, firmly opposed to tyranny and the aristocracy. In this environment, he grew up rebellious and ambitious, despite being born with a form of tuberculosis that left him frail and unable to complete even simple tasks. Yet, his determination to transform society (and maybe humanity itself) remained unwavering.
