hi guys french scout headcanons

dw everyone im Very Normal About This Headcanon (i have written it into every single one of my fics)

ok so starting with some backstory so scout's mama (her name is éliane) is also from france and she had her first seven sons there with her first husband. he turned out to be a TOTAL dick, so she divorced him and moved to the states to live a better life u know the rest spy comes to boston for whatever reason and BAM she pregnant and then after the baby turned one he dipped etc etc ok now time for hcs

-french was his first language and it tends to come out when he's confused and/or SUPER pissed off

-he and his brothers still speak it among one another all the time and he ALWAYS speaks it with his mother because she refuses to speak english with him

-she loves her son but GOD he has to work on that boston accent of his

-sometimes when he's halfway in english mode his accent will switch over to french and vise versa. every time it happens he just does the windows error sound

-nobody EVER expects him to be bilingual and so whenever it comes up it's always a big thing

-like once when flirting with jack (blu sniper-god i gotta post the rest of my hcs on here) he started speaking french to be sexy and jack was just like "THE FUCKIN 'ELL WAS THAT" "...french??" "I FUCKIN'- i know what it was, roo, i mean when were you gonna tell me you spoke french!?" "oh i dunno, done it since i was a little baby and my mama speaks french too" and so on

-READS FRENCH COMICS

-oh yeah must mention he finds reading in english IMPOSSIBLE. it confuses him sm that's why he sucks sm at reading

-talking shit about the rest of the team with spy while they're all sitting together because no one else understands them >>

-despite this, he only really speaks french to himself or to spy and even then usually its when they're alone or in private

-his name is spelled jérémie but he doesn't spell it like that ever, not even on his forms when he started working for mann co

-he left out his middle name too (sébastien) because he was told from a young age it was his father's first name (spoiler alert IT IS)

-also just so its clear i hc spy's name as sébastien and will probably refer to him as such multiple times

-before scout discovered spy was his father, when they first met he was like "hey that's wild i speak french too" and spy was just sweating in a corner LMFAO

-still relatively distraught that he's french

-sometimes people use words he doesn't know/understand in english and he says "what?" and spy will lean over and very quietly whisper it in french and he'll GASP like "OH YOU MEANT THAT THING YOU USE TO LOOK AT TINY SHIT?"

-teaches mick some french so he can impress spy

-calls his mama once a week to check in and thank god no one can eavesdrop on them because she just sits there like "god help me if you're smoking cigarettes over there i'll kill you when you get home" "i'm NOT, ma," actively smoking a cigarette while on the phone, "promise" "YOU STOP SPEAKING ENGLISH TO YOUR MOTHER LIKE THAT"

-helps séb cook sometimes, it makes him think of his mama <:

-i fully believe that éliane and séb made peace with one another at some point after his departure, and so he makes his rare-getting-slightly-less-rare boston appearances when jere goes home to see family

-anyway i just have a lot of strong feelings ab this hc and love it to bits
