Emmanuel Macron’s Cabinet
On May 17, 2017 Emmanuel Macron, newly appointed president of France, announced the ministers of his cabinet. The reason we are talking about this event of The Period Company is that 9 of the 18 ministers in this cabinet are female! Half of his ministers are female, a huge step forward in politics when compared to the governmental makeup of places like The United States. The prime minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau, made a similar decision when he appointed his cabinet in 2015. This cabinet contained 15 men and 15 women. Trudeau even sent out a tweet yesterday to congratulate Macron on his cabinet.
Anyways, this is just a really cool development for women in the field of politics. This representation will hopefully give young women, and men if they so choose, new role models to look up to. What are your thoughts on this political update?
