lucifer is jack’s father. no one wants to talk about this. they force parenthood on interesting characters, reducing them to babysitters. and yeah, it’s bad writing. but also? it erases what happened to kelly. she was raped. the only reason jack exists is bc his mother was raped. and having jack say “castiel is my father” is so . . . wrong. as if jack feeling accepted is more important than the trauma his mother experienced. (1)

I agree. I don’t think much about it lest I burst a blood vessel, but I agree. Not to mention Kelly was about as interesting as a blank piece of paper, because otherwise people might think that what happened to her was horrible - which it was of course. It’s Rosemary’s baby shown as a heartwarming story and that is just wrong.

I agree so hard with you about sharpay. I LOVE her, she’s iconic, but I’m so tired of this edgy rhetoric where everyone’s hating on gabriella (who is lovely and did nothing wrong!). yes, sharpay worked hard, but so did troy and gabriella? for that matter gabriella is a woc and definitely did not get everything handed to her in life lmao, whereas sharpay is literally a rich white girl. I’m glad ryan got the scholarship bc he deserves it, but sharpay sabotaged people. she’s not a victim!!!

i think i’ve said this before on this blog (several times, in fact, lol), but the thing is that i understand her actions, but i don’t think they’re justified. she has a reason to feel hurt, but it’s no excuse for how she screwed over pretty much everyone else. plus, the reason why sharpay is such an interesting character is because she’s such a morally ambiguous mess, and i feel like treating her like some wounded baby animal kind of undermines the characteristics that make her great, if that makes sense?

also, intentions are also important, imo. again, i understand why sharpay feels hurt and threatened by troy and gabriella, but neither of them ever deliberately want to hurt her. sharpay, on the other hand, performs many (although not all!) of her antagonistic actions with obvious intentions of screwing someone else over.

and yes, exactly, re: sharpay being more privileged. every time someone says gabriella is more privileged than sharpay, i feel my soul leave my body, tbh.

tl;dr sharpay’s actions are understandable, but she’s no angel and i wish people would stop ignoring all her crappy behaviour.

cas has genuinely done far worse in the past, intentional acts of violence, and dean didn’t use this kind of phrasing. so to me this whole thing just feels like writers creating conflict for the sake of conflict

Here’s the thing: I can only sympathize with Dean at the moment. Not because he is my fave - although he is, I won’t deny that - but because when I lost my father, I lashed out at people too and said things I didn’t mean. This could actually be great writing, but instead it’s awful, and I can’t stand it.

I miss old cas so much :( he was genuinely complex and interesting but unfortunately so many people are obsessed with babying him and the writers just feed into that. they think we like cas for . . . awkwardness? comic relief? I have no idea. Man, his season 6 plot was so well written and interesting and don’t get me started on The Man Who Would Be King ugh it was perfect.

another thing about jack is that. if destiel happens, it’s prob gonna be about him. like, oh, they’re his dads. he’s ruined it for me. I’ve wanted destiel for years but if they kissed and the camera cut to jack smiling or some shit I’d fucking riot. it just wouldn’t feel authentic. imagine saving someone from hell, sacrificing yourself for them, betraying them, etc. only for your relationship to end with babysitting a lil bitch whose only personality trait is liking nougat GOD I miss old destiel

Me too. One of the reasons I hate the spawn is that he ruined destiel for me in any way, shape or form. Cas has spent the last two seasons running after him and blaming Dean for not doing the same - it’s bad writing for a great character and a terrible dynamic for a ship. Just to imagine it with the cocaine toddler in the background makes it worse. Boy the days when Cas lay half-naked in bed, calling Sam to tell him he missed Dean when he was a demon - now that was shipping gold.
