okay, i think this was my very first gw2 rp meet up and i went out with my MOST EXTROVERTED character I had and I was just SO DAMN SHY AND ANXIOUS. luckily, i got to blame it on all the worms! Look, here's one: @mystery-salad's Joel <3
wanted to draw mlm for a friend...hand slipped and drew girlies instead....................
for specific questions thingie:
How do Eyris and Freya (or other chars if you want :D) respond to a loose handshake? What goes through their heads?
Okay thanks for the ask it's actually quite funny.
Freya? She will only tighten her grip and squeeze your life out. If you can't shake her hand "like normal", she might as well give you a reason to shake it so loosely! "You've got a shitty grip, my man! We should spar some time to work on that!" She laughs it off. You might now have a few broken fingers...
Eyris will give you this judging look and "hmm" at you. You are now self-conscious about your handshake.
desire and hate for eyris and Freya LESS GOOOO
OHOHO IT'S FREYRIS LET'S GOOOO
desire: What's one thing your OC wants more than anything in the world? Are they open with that desire? Why or why not? What would they do to fulfill it?
MMMKAY, so for EYRIS... she wants to belong. She wants to feel wanted, to be wanted, to have her place in the world. She would never admit it, she wants to come off as someone who is fine with whatever cards she's dealt. She just can't stop lying about that. Even to herself.
FREYA, on the other hand, is quite open with her desire, at least to those who know of her problem that is lycanthropy. She wishes to find a way out of it. While some people believe she has been blessed by Wolf, she feels like it's more of a curse. She wants that curse gone. She doesn't want to hurt anyone. She wants to be free.
hate: What does your OC hate? Why? How do they act towards the object of their hatred?
EYRIS hates, absolutely loathes pity. She hates it when people show her too much compassion, she hates it when people pity her. She gets aggressive when it happens. She has learned to just accept the cards that life's been dealing her and people say they feel sorry for her makes her angry. Why are YOU feeling bad? It's not your life. It doesn't concern you. You can't do shit about it. Not like she can, either. But the only person who should wallow in sadness is her. And she's not doing that. So...why are you?
FREYA hates justifying someone's inaction. She hates it when people are selfish and don't help others when they can. Obviously she won't throw a fit at poor scared villagers that are running from the fire that they didn't stop to help their neighbours - she'd be understanding, even if she would on the inside wonder if there was a chance for those people to stop and help others. But she will stand up to soldiers that should protect civillians. She won't just throw hands - she will throw a battle axe. You were trained to fight. You could have protect these people instead of leaving them for death. Why haven't you?
ask game! for freya: mask and secret :3 for airell, monster!
FREYA GIRLIE ILY, thanks El <3
mask: Does your OC wear a mask, literally or figuratively? What goes on beneath it? Is there anyone in their life who gets to see who they are under the mask?
Freya doesn't wear masks in any sense. The only exception is when it's so cold that she wants to keep her face warm. Otherwise she doesn't cover her face.
She also doesn't wear that figurative mask. She is a very genuine person. She is also a very bad liar. She tries to work on that, but mostly to have an advantage against enemies. She doesn't feel like she has to hide herself from her friends, family, coworkers.
secret: What's one secret your OC never wants anyone to know about them?
Freya isn't really keen on talking about her lycanthropy. She doesn't want people to know about it, she sees it as a weakness that she had to learn to live with. She is very angry that she has to tell Almorra and Forgal about it, since they were her superiors and she thinks that they should know. To keep her and other people safe.
Aaaand MONSTER FOR AIRELL!
monster: Is your OC monstrous in any way? Is there something that makes them monstrous? Are they aware of their own monstrosity? Do they accept it or reject it?
For a long time in the story Airell is unaware of their monstrosity. They believe that they're just overcharged with magic since they were near major magic explosions (Zhaitan, Mordremoth, Balthazar, etc...). So when their friends start talking to them about their shroud being different, about Airell themself being different... when the dots are finally connected, Airell doesn't take it well. How can they? How can they ever accept that they are just as much of a monster as the dragons and their champions that they themself help put down?
It takes Airell a while to accept their own monstrosity. It used to upset them, enrage them. Then it just made them sad. They've learned to live with that sadness. They've learned how to use it to their advantage. But they can't just accept it. Not when they aren't even sure what they really are.
3, 14, 30 for Freya?
Oh thank you I love me some Freya asks I really should show her off more.
3. How often do they show their genuine emotions to others versus just the audience knowing?
Freya can't lie. Even if she tries to hide her emotions, everyone can see the cracks. It's something she's tried to work on for years until she's eventually given up. She's accepted that it's a thing she just couldn't master.
14. How do they put out a candle?
If she's high on endorphines or wants to show off, she either:
licks her fingers and just puts the fire out with her bare hand
does some cool knife/sword/whatever she has on hand trick, like "I created wind to blow the fire out" or "look, I just cut the candle a bit shorter but I did it so PERFECTLY that the fire is out >:3" (yes the emoji is necessary)
of course there are moments when she gets angry. She might just crush the candle then.
If she's normal then she just blows it out. This rarely happens, though.
30. When they make a mistake and feel bad, does the guilt differ when it’s personal versus when it’s professional?
Considering that we're talking about Freya...
it's always personal. Freya's joined the Vigil to protect people, she wanted to save people not only from the Dragons but other threats as well. She made that clear to Almorra when she's joined. And Almorra warned her that while commendable, this path is risky.
Well, unfortunately for everyone, Freya included, our lovely nornwolf has a hero complex. So when she fails, she takes it very personally. Because she shouldn't have made that mistake, she shouldn't have failed. She failed everyone - her squad, her boss, all of Tyria--
As you can see, my girlie has NO work/life balance.
Tell me something about Freya
OKAY SO I WILL GIVE YOU THREE (3) SOMETHINGS BECAUSE I LOVE FREYA SO MUCH
Freya has a twin brother Njal and a half-sister Ellayah. She is now in her 30s and she still calls herself an alpha twin because she's taller than her brother by one (1) centimetre. He lightheartedly tells her tgat she's still as immature as she was when they were kids.
When Freya and Njal were 16, they were out hunting and they took Ella (13) with them to show her the ropes. They were attacked by Sons of Svanir and barely made it out. The fear that Freya felt that day and the feeling of hopelessness made her realise that she never wanted to feel like that again and that she wanted protect people, especially her family. So, she joined the Vigil where she was assigned to join Forgal's squad. That squad became her second family, her wolf pack.
Freya's mother, Silena, was a whispers agent, so she was a distant parent. She would always try to keep her family safe, provide for them, but it caused a strain on their relationships. Even if Silena tried to make sure her children wouldn't lack anything, she still was a distant parent. She died during the assault on Claw Island. While Freya took it very hard, despite always having a strained relationship with her.
