Weddings were stressful for every couple, that was something Nate was sure of, but he knew they would be worth it. He had been in love with Freya for years and had never imagined meeting someone like her so young, but now that they were together, everything felt as he had always dreamed it would be. Their relationship was solid, their brief time apart seeming to only grow the two closer. He couldn’t imagine being with anyone else and Freya simply brought out the best in him.
Given the stress of their jobs and the wedding, he wanted to do something special for her when she was off work. He had finished his meetings a little early so he made his way to the store, grabbing some of her favourite wine, flowers, and ingredients to cook her one of her favourite dishes. He made his way home, changed into some casual clothing and quickly cleaned their apartment before beginning on making dinner for her. As he put on the finishing touches on the meal, he heard her key in the lock. He quickly set the plates on the table and lit the candles he had laid out around their apartment, standing behind their kitchen table and waiting for her to come in with a nervous excitement. “Surprise!” He beamed.
