with most of the unfamiliar stations under his belt, leon thought it would be silly if he didn’t at least get a feel of what the capitol weapons felt like before he entered the arena. it was probably no secret he was skilled with swords. it was his grandfather and father’s weapon of choice. disappointed didn’t begin to describe how joaquim and antonio felt when leon expressed his interest in the bow, it didn’t matter what the boy said or did though, whenever either of them supervised his sparring sessions they had made sure a sword was in his hand. there were always multiple swords in an arena, sometimes there was no bow or just one. leon selfishly decided if he didn’t get one he’d definitely get one from a sponsor, if the capitol wanted a real show they had to provide him with the right tools.
his shirt was beginning to dark with sweat as he sparred with the trainer. as he took a water break, he saw the girl from twelve he had briefly spoken to make her way to the station. “you ever swung a sword twelve?”
