Friariello is the next pepper on my list for Italian varieties to grow after stopping for emergency pizza at Napoli Pizza en route to dropping off a bunch of plants at my friend Lan's house tonight. My great grandmother came from a village south of Naples, and so the name lured me in. Behind the counter Bruno showed me pictures of this pepper saying it was long, sweet, and incredibly delicious when fried - it's apparently a bit like the shishito or padrón. I'll be stopping back through with my broccoli rabe seeds when they are ready in a couple weeks! If I end up with a slice of pizza in exchange, I'll be a happy seed farmer. Sort of related: at my previous stop to get gas, the station attendant arranged for us to swap our tallest sunflower seeds next time I come through.
