Unova was quite different than the places he was used to. His home region of Kanto had cities of course, as did Paldea but few quite so large and impressive as the ones Unovans boasted about. Friede had to admit he'd barely set foot long in any of them since arriving not long ago. Nature was a bit more of a draw for him. Less responsibilities. Fewer opportunities he had to present a 'certain way' for a Pokémon Professor. Friede felt much more at home out in the wilds with the very Pokémon he held passion for. As such, he and Cap had taken a stroll on the outskirts of the city and soon delved further into the wilds themself. Afterall, he wasn't quite ready to return to the Brave Olivine, even though Murdock was no doubt making the crew something delicious for dinner soon. As a thoughtful gesture, his friend had sent him off with a couple sandwiches so he and Cap wouldn't grow hungry if Friede got them lost like he wasn't unknown for doing.
Quietly avoiding meeting eyes with a few trainers who were out and about that evening, Friede ducked deeper into the forest with Cap on his shoulder. The Pikachu seemed to have quite a lot to say that evening and the Professor smiled endearingly as Cap ranted a bit about something silly Charizard had done earlier during training. Accidentally knocking Cap over with its tail.
"Now Cap, you know it wasn't on purpose. We talked about -- hold on," Friede paused to actually sniff the air, rather close to how he observed Cap sniffing the air just a moment before. After all, he been learning so much from Cap from the day they met. Taking some more steps forward, Friede let out an "Ahhh, something smells amazing!" just as he stepped right into a small opening in the forest. And someone's camp.
"Oh?" Looking around for a moment before realizing someone was sitting next to the campfire stirring whatever smelled so good. Friede fell flat on his (and Cap's) face by the surprise and the quick haste in which he tried to stop. "Owww," Friede groaned as he shifted to sit crisscross and rub at his face. "Chu.." Cap echoed the sentiment.
"So sorry to interrupt your cooking, Cap here -- Err my Pikachu -- smelled something yummy and wanted to investigate," he fibbed just a little. This was not missed by Cap who jumped on Friede's head and started tugging at him in a clear 'nuh uh!' sort of way.
"Ow. Ow. Okay - Okay I wanted to investigate and it was entirely my idea," he rambled before looking down at his now squashed bag. "I think I might have killed our sandwiches too. Anyways. Hello there sorry for disturbing you."
