Meal One Hundred Four.  Tacos with Sole Featuring an Avocado Crema and Crispy Cabbage Slaw (March 6, 2017)

Fish tacos! I never actually thought I liked fish tacos, and I don’t love sour cream. As this meal has both, I wasn’t really all that anxious to make it.  You only live once though right, so might as well give it a go. It was actually very good! I liked it rather a lot. 

Because I was frying the fish, and because it’s John’s birthday weekend and he loves these, I decided to also fry up some pickles before cooking the tacos. Oh snap, I did it! I have never really fried anything before, with the whole breading process, and while it is time consuming, it went rather smoothly. I was impressed with myself, anyways. I fried some dill pickles and some bread and butter pickles- I personally liked the bread and butter pickles more.  

But the fish tacos - the avocado crema was great, the rub on the fish was really good and a good flavor to pair with the crema/cabbage slaw flavor. The slaw added some crunchy texture missing in both the crema and the fish. What a nicely balanced taco! I have also never cooked tortilla wraps in the oven before, which was a nice way to go about it. I usually steam them, which has the same effect but takes longer. So win for the oven! Ultimately, this meal was a raging success, and I would likely make it again.
