the viscountess watches with anxious eyes. teeth biting down on her bottom lip as she surveys the room. around her are wide smiles and uttered graces. what a charming evening! the dowager lady bridgerton had exclaimed, before leaving her to mingle with those of the ton. not the first ball of the season, but surely one that had spoken about the most. a celebration of her sister's engagement to a prince. her first ball held as viscountess. at least, it seems, it had gone without a hitch.
though she must place the accolades on edwina's shoulders. she had been most helpful in the planning process.
@friedricrown asks; ❛ your dreams are grander than you let on. ❜
kate doesn't jump at the sound of the prince's voice. she had been too aware of him, as most of the guests had been, all night. anxious to impress her future brother-in-law. wanting nothing but for edwina to be happy. she offers a curtsey, as she would the queen, before speaking. ❝ i'm not quite sure what you mean, your highness. ❞ her dreams? well, kate bothered with such things since her father had died. and while she is married now, and happily so, she hadn't given much thought to anything more. she would have children, one of whom would be the next viscount, and she would be content. ❝ there is hardly room for dreams when one is already happy. ❞
