With odd background warbles, a shaky synth, and words that aren't quite sung, but oozed out, Two Currents show that weird Folk/Indie is alive and well. And guess what? It's pretty catchy.
I Do Not Exist- Toiled
This is the Friendcore band to show your pops; they're a pretty eclectic group, but their sound is firmly rooted in 60's-70's Rock with a dash of Blues. If I ever get into a bar fight with some huge 40-year-old biker, I want this band to be playing in the background.
Santa Mira- RAWR
Whaa? A hip, Fresno Indie band that's down to play in Chinatown? Crazy. Seriously though, these guys are pretty good: their songwriting's solid and they aren't weighed down by a "we're too cool for this" mentality. They're relatively new, but their potential to do some pretty cool things is already obvious.
Still Stoked- Still Stoked
This is pretty much the Friendcore National Anthem. Y'all probably know about Still Stoked: Fresno's volatile, lovable folk-punk outfit. They were assholes, but they were our assholes. We miss you all very much; I will forever drink King Cobra in your honor. This is the only recording that was ever "officially" released from them (aside from a couple of secret, shady e-mails...) so enjoy.
Restaurnaut- Rocky Racoon
This guy was Friendcore before Friendcore was a thing; this is weird folk at it's finest.
Strawberry Jam- Constellations
A slower number from one of the most skilled indie/alternative bands that came out of Fresno. We miss you, Strawberry Jam :/
Loverboy- To Be This Way
So I guess the popular 80's rock band Loverboy got tired of "Working For the Weekend" and started putting out weird, hypnotic Trip-Hop. I'm sure it'll turn-off a few of the more hardcore Loverboy fans, but personally, I like their new approach.
