All day the back of my mind has been pondering whether I should stay a third night or not in New Orleans. This is the kinda town that I could find something to stay for forever, but there is so much more I haven't seen. So tomorrow I'm checking out and continuing west. No idea where I'm going next, just west. A bartender at dinner tonight offered to me that the drive along the coast to Houston is much prettier than the drive northerly to Dallas, so I think I'm going to head to Houston and then cut north through Texas to meet up with Route 66 somewhere near Amarillo in a couple days. I just got out of Preservation Hall, the reason I fell in love with New Orleans. It's different now, and more crowded, most likely thanks to Dave Grohl's documentary, Sonic Highways, that thrust it into the limelight. However it is still just as intimate and amazing as I remember it. As if it was meant to be, the band kicked off the set with Back Home In Indiana. Hmm, I hear you universe, I'll be back. Just give me some time to head west first. Back at Fritzel's for one more whiskey and one more song, ok maybe two more. Then it's time for some rest before I say au revoir New Orleans.
