Infinity War AU Starter for @fromqveens
Even as Loki attempted something as simple as taking a deep breath, his entire spine was in agony. While he’d faced death before, it had always been quicker, or at the very least more painless. Thanos had enjoyed breaking him, as was to be expected from a mad and genocidal titan that Loki had ultimately betrayed over and over. To his credit however, it wasn’t as though the god had ever worked for him willingly to begin with.
Truly, he had thought he was going to die.
When he awoke in the cold and endless void of the cosmos, he had used what little magic he could muster in order to transport himself to Earth. After that, everything had been a blur, there was so much fighting, people screaming out a battle cry and anguish as they fell and died. He couldn’t honestly keep track of everything, only knew that Thor still lived because of the lightning that was splitting the sky every now and again, striking down multitudes of the Chitari.
But when all was said and done, they had won. They had beaten Thanos.
The trickster laid on the concrete within the streets of New York, a sense of deja vu washing over him. That time though, he wasn’t going home to Asgard in chains, he had to face the fact that as far as his brother was concerned, they were already home. Loki coughed up a bit of blood, attempting to stand but ultimately ending up on his knees, wiping his mouth with the back of his hand.
His wandering glance spotted a literal child. Of course, most of the Midgardians were children in his eyes, never hoping to live even a fraction of his lifespan, but this boy was young even in comparison to Stark. He had a spider insignia upon his suit, he thought he briefly remembered someone calling him ‘Spider-Man’ at some point. The spider child had fought bravely, but he too was injured. When Loki realized he was staring, he looked back down at the concrete.
