With a few exceptions, overt political messages in rock music fall flat on their asses. But in hip hop they flourish.
Excited for the Outer Spaces tour at the Frontier Bar on Thursday. Cuban revolutionaries and friends of Girls Rock Austin, Krudas Cubensi (Austin via Havana) joins Invincible, straight from Detriot and Brooklyn's Climbing PoeTree. I booked Invincible for the GRA SXSW day party a few years ago and she kinda blew our minds right there on the stageless patio of the pizza joint.
From the Outer Spaces web site:
OuterSpaces is a visionary force of emcees and hip-hop poets representing the strength in marginalized identities. Featuring the spitfire wordplay of Invincible (Detroit), the soul-stirring spoken word of Climbing PoeTree (Brooklyn), and the irrepressible flow and flavor of Las Krudas (Havana), this international, bilingual, pansexual, polyracial, multi-media, cross-genre collaboration of artists nurtures parallel universes where our visions for planetary transformation become possible.
Tickets here (Frontier bar is small, another reason this will be totally rad).
